Hey Friend,
How are you? Any interesting news to share? I’m all ears!
While I wait to hear from you, I’ll share that we’ve officially reached the end of term – yessss! Working in a school office means I get four weeks summer holiday and not six, but those four weeks will still be bliss (when I get to them)!
This week on Instagram, I did a ‘Five in Five’ post. It’s a way of getting to know a person naming five of their favourites in a particular category.
For example, five books. I chose the following:

I love these books for various reasons. The Vintage Shop, Britt-Marie was Here and The One Plus One are all character driven and I can’t get enough of stories about relationships – familial and friendships. Vera Wong has mystery but in a comedic way and The Help is a top tier example of historical fiction.
But there are other books that have stayed with me and should also get a mention, such as:
- Dear Mrs Bird by A. J. Pearce
- Small Great Things by Jodi Picoult
- The Personal Librarian by Marie Benedict
- All the Lonely People by Mike Gayle
- What July Knew by Emily Koch
- How to Age Disgracefully by Clare Pooley
I could go on and on!
Five movies was just as hard. This was the finalised list:

I should have Back to the Future Parts 1 and 2 really which had my generation dreaming of flying cars when we hit the year 2000. Still waiting for those…
Die Hard 3 has it all – action, adventure and comedy, making it my absolute fave of the twenty films in the series (I exaggerate, a little…).
Ferris Bueller’s Day off is a classic that needs no explanation. The same with Brewster’s Millions – if you know, you know.
Lastly, there is Sister Act, both 1 and 2. I can sing along to every song and now my children do too 😊
But again, there are too many great movies that didn’t get a mention. A list of great movies would not be complete without:
- Trading Places
- See no Evil, Hear no Evil
- The Money Pit
- Transformers (1st and 2nd, goes downhill after that)
- Planes, Trains and Automobiles
- Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner and the update, Guess Who
- Braveheart
I could fill this space with more movies but I think you get my point. I cannot be contained to five favourites! It’s actually an impossible task.
This is the slide of my five favourite things:

Obviously, my children 💗 I love this photo of them as it says so much about how fun they are, but also that they like having fun together.
My bible is there as sitting down to read it, I get something new every time. I can often be found reading with a freshly brewed tea from my glass teapot. I have not bought or used teabags in years. My go-to is fresh ginger, turmeric and lemon with mint. It’s so lovely and I highly recommend it.
You can check out my Instagram post for my other top fives, but for now it’s over to you, Friend!
