Well hello there, Friend!
How’s it going? The sun is out so that’s always a bonus 😊
Unfortunately for me, I can’t quite enjoy it with one good eye…
So, I went to bed on Sunday and all was fine except my left eyelid felt a bit sore to touch.
No big deal.
I went to bed.
Clearly my eye thought it was a big deal as it swelled overnight to the point where I look like I’ve come out worse in a fight.
It was an even bigger deal yesterday when it was not only double the size of the previous day, but also weeping, blurring my vision.
I wear glasses so, while I pressed a cold flannel on my bad eye, my good eye strained to focus on anything. My children saying “Look at this, Mummy” from a few feet away looked at me sympathetically when I beckoned them closer to peer at their picture/toy/funny Tic Tok video like someone twice my age (maybe).
Mr E spent £11 on the tiniest bottle of eyedrops (he must really love me)! The pharmaceutical companies are having a laugh. At that price, I would have expected to at least be able to see clearly out of my eye by now, but no.
It’s still pretty swollen and gross looking and today I had the added bonus of facing the public. Monday was a Bank Holiday and the teachers were on strike yesterday (I’ll talk about that another day…) so, I only had to inflict my shocking appearance on my family. Today I had to do the school-run with Bubs, hurrying along the road, not lingering to chat or smile at anyone and wondering why on earth I didn’t think to wear sunglasses!
Anyhoo… Hopefully by the time you hear from me again I’ll have two functioning eyes!
In the meantime I’m gearing up for busy times ahead. This month we have Mr E’s birthday, Older Miss’ birthday and the start of her GCSE’s. I can’t even tell you how strange it is that I’ll be saying I have a sixteen-year-old daughter. I know it’s a cliché, but where on earth has the time gone?
We found a photo the other day of Mr E and I on honeymoon. OM said “You look so young!”
I look at that fresh-faced twenty-six-year-old (with two infection-free eyes!) who had no idea what the next seventeen years held. But three babies, some grey hairs and a whole host of other things later, I am still enjoying the journey.
